Blazer
Wool, wool and goat hair hymo
100% silk jacquard
Buttons from AAF
Vogue #9099
Cheryl’s first foray into tailoring a blazer was a huge success. All elements of the project worked in beautiful harmony: from the wool she chose to the wool and goat hair hymo to the jacquard print panel lining to the solid silk charmeuse she used for the 3/8” flat piping. Check out the couture sewing: the upper welt pocket, lower pockets with welts and flaps, and bound buttonholes made using Annie’s foolproof technique. Lots of hand sewing: pad stitching the under collar and lapels, fell stitching the tape into place on the fronts and roll lines, and catch stitching the edges of the hymo underneath all seams, buttonholes, and pockets. Interfacing was AAF AngelWeft®, a rather light to mid-weight fusible interfacing with just the right support. Nice work, Cheryl!
