Bolero/Skirt/Tee
Skirt: rayon/lycra jersey; Tee: cotton; Bolero, lace
Donna Karan Vogue 1451
In a last minute weather-influenced decision to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary, my husband and I headed to Falmouth, MA for some much needed fun in the sun. Here, on location, I am wearing what I refer to as my Advanced Style look of the moment. The skirt that I made is rayon/lycra jersey in one of those dijon-like oddball neutrals that I love. I underlined the upper skirt part with itself to give it more body and to maintain a smooth silhouette. I added length to both the upper skirt panels as well as the flounce 1-2". The flounce is made in two parts joined together at the cross seam with the skirt panels. The hems are left unfinished, a new concept for me! My seams are top-stitched on both sides @ approximately 1/8". The waistband has a 2" wide elastic making it a comfortable choice for travel and beyond. DK Vogue 1451. Worn with it is a TJ Maxx cotton sequined tee shirt with a double lace ruffle that I added for more length and interest. The textured lace bolero is one of my many “Sleevie Wonders" made from a basic v-neck Burda pattern and modified with a waterfall effect. Vintage bracelet, a snakeskin belt, and Miz Mooz suede booties complete the look. Got LOTS of compliments!
