  Notes This dress began its life as Butterick 5885. Initially it seemed a bit short-waisted so I inserted a 2" wide white elastic for its first wearing. Not one to give up on a project that I felt could be improved upon, a year later I removed the white elastic and replaced it with a midriff section complete with a solid contrasting 3/8" piping in a complimentary color. I do so love it when out of the depths of my stash appears a piping opportunity!
